*My Language is an International language and can be a National Language as well*
Do you know Ghana have about forty nine languages and that 9 of those are studied officially in our schools?
Do you also know some West African countries also speak one of our local languages as their own language?
Some tribes in Nigeria, Togo and Benin speak one particular Ghanaian language.
I guess you know this special language that I am referring to by now.
It is our own *Ewe* language.
The Ewe language was the first to be introduced in our universities and the first Ghanaian language to be read at the Master's level in any Ghanaian university!
Because it's root is very widely linked to several languages, a university in Germany has created a whole faculty dedicated to the study of the Ewe language.
The Ewe language is widely understood by many people in Ghana but only few speak it. Even the native speakers shy from using it to communicate in public.
Custodians of the Ewe language do not promote the language. Even during festivals and Durbars in the Eweland, the English language is the common language used.
The Ewe language can be Ghana's national language by all standards. Unlike other languages, the Ewe language is unique and widely spoken all over the world.
My young ladies and gentlemen of the Eweland, we are not in competition with other languages in Ghana but let's do well to be proud of this beautiful and unique language that the Almighty God in His own wisdom has endowed us with. Speak it and don't let anyone make you feel inferior because of the language you speak. In any case, someone can only make you feel inferior with your own consent! I've met people of other languages who were very interested in learning my language. If you meet people like that, teach them and let them experience the rich culture we have as a people!
Please don't forget this; EXEGBEA, YE EXE DÓNA!!!
Good Day. Please share with all your Ewe contacts to encourage the free proud speaking of Ewe!
*I'm a proud EWE*😋
